So here is our chance to make our voice heard by the next President of the USA! The Space Advocacy Community is actively involved in creating questions, and voting on current questions, that will be used in the national televised debates!

"We" have mobilized and taken action. At last count, 9 of the top 10 questions for the democrats were related to space. HOWEVER, only 1 of the top 25 is about space for the republicans. We need to vote for BOTH sides of this debate. Remember, we are only voting for questions, not a candidate. I don't care if you are leaning toward the left or the right when November comes around. For now, we need to vote on questions for both sides of the aisle.

    thanks. mjl

Just voted for all the space questions! The note in the article about looking through the "most popular" catagory was definitely helpful... Wow, great to see sooooo many space questions!!

    Thanks guys!

Yup, i knew about the wired article, i had already emailed the author, loretta.

and thanks for passing along the word, for actionforspace.com. john is working hard, and it is paying off. he sent me a file with all the loggins of the past 24 hours - it is crazy - from all over the world... probably 30 countries already!

and yes, we are making progress, but we have to keep up the pressure, and make sure the republicans are feeling the heat, too. so if you have not voted for questions on both sides of the aisle, go back and vote. thanks!

ACE - did you have fun last night? It was last night, right? your big dinner? I hope it was great. No, no word from MSNBC, yet. I am a little disappointed. So will propose the same thing to space.com and newscientist.

    Take care, and thanks. mjl

Okay, I hope I don't get in trouble...!! Yes, I just emailed info about the actionforspace website and the politico site for voting for all the Space Questions on "both sides" to a list of over 200 astronomers. I hope the owner of the list will not get mad at me... I made it clear that it doesn't matter what a person's political orientation is -- that this is for anyone who is interested in supporting continued Space Exploration, but it's possible I'll get kicked off the list for "getting political"? Or perhaps I'll just get reprimanded? I'm not sure -- but my message has been sent! I had already sent the info off to individual astro-friends, but this will reach A LOT of folks at once : )

Ah, The Big Dinner -- it takes place this Sunday, and I think I finally have all the electronics set up. One guy is checking out a projector from the U of W for me, two different people are bringing cables, another guy is bringing the laser pointer, a different guy will bring a laptop, another person -- the back up projector... and on and on. Last Saturday, the decorations gal told me she thought the restaurant did NOT have a PA System, and the restaurant was closed all weekend 'cause it's water heater had burned out, so nobody could answer my questions... Panic ensued as I tried to find a portable PA system someplace... blah blah blah!! Anyway, I think all of that end of stuff is under control at this point, and now I just have to practice my intro to the guest speaker, and my 7 minute slideshow of "The Year in Review". I hope I'll be able to relax and enjoy the keynote speaker's presentation; but the rest of the evening is just nerve-wracking 'cause I'm depending on so many different people to bring needed items, etc... I can hardly wait till it's OVER! The ONLY part I'm looking forward to is the guest speaker!

And all I can say about MSNBC is that they are total numskulls if they don't hire you & your exciting proposal; whoever does get you will be extremely lucky!!!

    Cheers, ACE

Hey Michael, There may possibly be a FREE BANQUET TICKET available for Sunday evening!! I don't like dangling something that I don't know about for sure, but then again, I realized that if I don't let you know about it now, you might make other plans -- if you don't already have some. So here's the scoop. One of the Board Members had to run off to his cabin/second-house up by Mt Baker because of trouble with the water lines... He emailed the rest of us to let us know that he may not be able to return in time for the Banquet. Well, gosh, I just thought if he's not going to be able to use his ticket, why not see what he'd think about passing it along to you -- as a thank-you for being one of our guest speakers -- if he can't use the ticket himself! I know you said you weren't planning on coming, but I figured if there was an extra ticket about to be wasted, that hey, perhaps you might change your mind? I sent him an email and left a cell phone message, but I don't know if he has internet or cell coverage at his cabin (perhaps he needs a Tethered Tower installed at his place?!) But I'll let you know if I hear anything from him; I may not know for sure though until Sunday morning... If the ticket does become available, it should be a pretty tasty dinner and of course there's a wonderful astronaut for our guest speaker (I still feel like I shouldn't say names of people or organizations in public postings). Anyway, it should be a very nice evening (in spite of my earlier complaints/grumblings). Actually tonight a few of the Board Members came over to my place for a rehearsal of the "year in review" (there's actually 3 of us covering various aspects of it), and everything went very well, so I'm actually feeling quite upbeat about the whole thing now :-) Let me know if you're interested in the ticket if it becomes available!

    Cheerio, ACE

MICHAEL, THE BANQUET TICKET IS YOURS IF YOU'D LIKE IT!! Just let me know if you can indeed use it, because if you can't, the Board will want to go ahead and invite someone else, so the ticket finds another deserving home... I'm crossing my fingers that you can use it :-)

Hope to hear from you soon! ACE

Hi again, Michael -- Just spoke with the Pres. and he said that since I hadn't heard back from you yet, that he wanted to give the free banquet ticket to our Webmaster, who it turns out didn't have a ticket for this evening. Sorry the ticket is no longer available... Let me know how things are goin' ACE
